How has Virgin Mary touched your life?
I pray to her for myself, my mother and my son and ask her to bless us and make us strong, in mind, body, and soul. I ask her to protect us and keep us safe from harm.
She has answered my prayers many times over and I am thankful to have her in my life.

Re: Has Mary Touched Your Life?
Sun, October 8, 2006 - 8:20 AMHello, I check in from time to time here to read but this is my first post. Mary has touched my life in many was, being the Mother of Christ, symbolized in the constellations Virgo and Coma, found in Zoroastrian writings as Maiden whose title is All-overpowerer.
In the Gospel of Luke the phrase “his mother kept all these sayings in her heart” helps me to understand Mary better. She is Mother of Jesus and knows His ways, when I seen the Passion of Christ movie and Mary wiping up the blood from Her Son Her compassion will forever flood my soul.
I have a small stained glass picture of Mary and Baby Christ I treasure. Two praises to Her I learned are “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death” and “Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus” -

Re: Has Mary Touched Your Life?
Sun, October 8, 2006 - 7:41 PM"Hail Mary" - When I was in elementary school I always seemed to rush thru this prayer (especially as penance during my confession!), A parish nun in our class told us to say the prayer slowly, emphasis the words and think about what we were praying and who we were praying to. . . I always remember that when I say this prayer and say it with meaning. It is a beautiful prayer to the mother of Jesus. -

Mon, October 9, 2006 - 12:00 PMThe picture is simple, nothing antique or fancy, a 5inx7in-glass square with metal frame. I placed it on the scanner and uploaded it to the photo album on my profile. There are some more pictures of Mary amongst others at the tribe I moderate listed on my profile too.
Years ago I was able to receive the Catholic television network, that’s were I learned these. Hundreds and hundreds of Nuns and Priests would recite these over and over, not really fast but like a song, part of the reason it stuck with me was this repetition and the way it was phrased like music.

Re: Has Mary Touched Your Life?
Mon, October 9, 2006 - 10:47 PMPhaedra, you are exactly right...slowing it down is the key!
I grew up saying the rosary every Friday before school mass, and it was just recitation. Then, my grandmother had me pray with her...in Spanish! That was the best thing ever for me, I grew up speaking Spanish with my grandmother, but I was never 100% fluent. So when I pray the Rosary in Spanish, I am aware of every word I am saying, which is my way of slowing it down...and it seems so much more beautiful in Spanish (at least to me) :) -

Re: Has Mary Touched Your Life?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 3:44 AMI just joined this tribe so I'll put in my little story...
I was pregnant with our third child and my husband, a US Navy sailor, was away for a few days on an underway. I knew that this little one wasn't going to wait till her due date to show up. Our church had an all day Adoration which I took part in. During my hour with Jesus and Mary, I prayed the rosary and then basically pleaded with them to have her wait until her Daddy came home (he was on deployment when our second child, our first son, was born). I was in tears begging them both to just let her wait. He pulled in Saturday morning and at 4:42PM she was born. I knew that was Mary and Jesus stepping in to help me. -

Re: Has Mary Touched Your Life?
Fri, February 1, 2008 - 4:01 AMWelcome Silver Fae, I agree. Many times I have prayed to Mary and she has answered my prayers.
When my son, James, was born, (many years ago) he was premature and his lungs were not developed. The doctor put him on 60% oxygen and I prayed to Jesus and Mary, as I had lost my infant son the year before and couldn't bear the pain if it happened again. My co-workers stopped work at 10 a.m. and prayed for my son. Within an hour, he was down to 20% oxygen and doing much better! I truly believe in prayers to Mary, as well as Jesus. I pray to her as a Mother to a Mother and a Daughter to a Daughter. I also believe in group prayer - it is amazing.
